JobSeeker Classification Instrument (JSCI)

Department of Eduction, Skills and Employment

The Department of Eduction, Skills and Employment engaged Wallis to conduct the Phase 2 evaluation of the Department’s online JobSeeker Classification Instrument (JSCI). The JSCI forms one of the early stages of applying for income support. Wallis’ experience in sensitively engaging with jobseekers, and our ability to provide insight on user experiences means we were perfectly placed to deliver the project.

The project involved both quantitative and qualitative streams. Wallis undertook a ‘rolling’ survey of jobseekers less than 48 hours after their completion of the online JSCI. The surveys were complemented with focus groups and depth interviews which we used to further unpack the findings. Wallis utilised logistic regression modelling to explore the underlying factors that were the strongest predictors of successful completion of the JSCI. Wallis’ Directors presented the findings from the modelling and the qualitative components to senior executives from the Department in Canberra.
