Our Lives (Social Futures and Life Pathways project)
Wallis is excited to be teaming up with Monash University on the Our Lives project for the first time in 2015. This insightful, ongoing study follows a large cohort of young Australians and looks at how global change and uncertainty influences young people’s attitudes, beliefs and choices as they navigate through life.
The project originally commenced in 2006 with a large cohort of students who were completing year 8 at high school in Queensland. At this time, the project was entirely managed by the University of Queensland.
Since then, data collection has been taking place approximately every two years, with the project expanding to include researchers across the country based at Monash University, University of Tasmania, and Queensland University of Technology.
In 2013, the project was relocated from the University of Queensland to Monash University. Monash will again be managing the project in 2015, thanks to funding provided by the Australian Research Council (ARC).
In 2015, Wallis will manage the entire survey process and data collection on behalf of Monash University. This year the survey will focus on young people’s experiences with employment, tertiary education, relationships as well as attitudes to some social and political issues.
Most participants are likely to complete the survey online, however there is an option for respondents to complete the survey over the phone if they wish.
Further information about Our Lives and access to previous survey reports can be obtained through the Our Lives website at http://artsonline.monash.edu.au/ourlives.
