The Social Futures and Life Pathways (‘Our Lives’) Project is an ongoing research study by Monash University that follows a large cohort of young Queenslanders from adolescence to later life. The study aim to empirically investigate how young people think about their future and how they master their trajectories in a world of rapid change and uncertainty.
This year, the Monash University ‘Our Lives’ project is turning 10 years years old. To mark this milestone Wallis, in conjunction with Monash University, have designed a brief report illustrating selected findings from the study over the past decade. Please click here to view the report.

The Australian market and social research industry’s peak body, the Research Industry Council of Australia, has just issued a press release following public concern over the conduct of this year’s Census. The industry relies heavily on Census data, but when gathering information itself ensures that participation is voluntary, that personally identified information, if needed at all, is kept to a minimum and de-identified as soon as possible. The industry uses the information in aggregate form rather than on an individual basis. Wallis’ Principal, Jayne Van Souwe, sits on the Industry Privacy Compliance and Professional Standards Committees and was a co-author of the Press Release, which is available here. If you have any questions about data protection and privacy, please contact us.

Office of Information Commissioner Annual Report Released – Gives plug to Market and Social Research Industry Code
October 28th, 2015
Wallis principal, Jayne Van Souwe, who sits on the Association of Market and Social Research Organisations (AMRSO) Privacy Committee which was responsible for overseeing the draft of the Code said “the Australian market and social research industry is so far the only one that has taken the bold step of having its own privacy code registered because it operates under conditions that are higher than the law. It is gratifying to see the OAIC acknowledging the Code in its Annual Report and our industry continues to work closely with the OAIC to raise data protection standards in all businesses across Australia”.
Wallis was the first company in the industry to become a Privacy Awareness Week Partner. For more information on how your data can be collected, stored and transferred within the law, please contact Jayne.
