Happy 20th Anniversary Wallis!

October 19th, 2011

Wallis Consulting Group celebrated 20 years in operation by holding a Black Tie Dinner for staff and partners at Duck Duck Goose in Melbourne’s CBD. The menu and the wines (most from 1991) for the dinner were selected by Managing Director Yvonne Wallis. Yvonne reflected on the company’s beginnings in her home in Melbourne, the move to renovated 19th century offices in the CBD to new offices in Cremorne on the city fringes. Some 110 permanent staff and in excess of 2,500 casual field staff have worked for the company – many of whom have gone on to great success both within the company and the industry, but all of whom have made the company the success it is today.

In those 20 years the company has changed from conducting tracking studies principally for a single banking client to conducting over one hundred projects a year for a large number of clients in private enterprise, and state and federal government, in areas as diverse as banking, utilities, insurance, education, environment, health, road safety, transport and infrastructure.

In keeping with its motto, Tradition and Innovation, it continues to specialise in tracking research while constantly seeking new and improved ways of operating, for example, exploring the use of GPS units in transport research, and developing its own online retail customer experience benchmark research.

Yvonne was presented with a commemorative book containing images from the 20 years and personal photos and messages from over 50 of the company’s present and former employees.

Trivia Night

July 11th, 2011

The Wallis trivia team “Where’s Wally?” were a huge success at our very first trivia venture, winning second place at the Quiz Meisters trivia night at The Mt View Hotel in Richmond. We were just pipped at the post by one point… now if only we had known the answer to the Italian name for the pinot gris, Sorry Yvonne! The night was full of highs, a significant one being a Mario Kart race late in the evening winning us a jug of beer; thanks to Patrick, whose son’s favourite character is the Toad. We’ll be back next week for another shot at the first prize!
cakepops Julie Higgs, one of our Data Analysts, is also a super-wizz in the kitchen, and treated us all to these amazing “cake pops” for morning tea, as part of our bake-off competition! Cake on a stick dipped in chocolate – delicious!

Welcome new staff

June 24th, 2011

Wallis has recently welcomed three new additions to the team; Josephine Foti has joined the consulting team, and Katherine Rich and Nisha Ali are two new members of the support team.

Enthusiastic runners at Wallis have been supporting this fun run since its inception in 2006. This year we had a team of six brave volunteers who signed up for the long course, that’s 14.4 km! The runners in the group ate up the kilometres at an average pace of around 6:11 per km, well done!
